“Fear of death is one of the great abnormalities or distortions of divine truth for which the Lords of Cosmic Evil are responsible. When, in early Atlantean times, they emerged from the place in which they were confined and temporarily forced the resignation of the Great White Lodge to subjective levels, their first great act of distortion was to implant fear in men, beginning with the fear of death. Since that time, people have placed the emphasis on death rather than life and have always been obsessed with fear.”

Quote from: The Rays and the Initiations, Alice Bailey

We give here a very far looking back into a time whose reality is presupposed in the teachings mentioned by us. This retrospective reference explains, on the basis of this quotation of the master D.K., over what great periods of time a basic problem of man has been preserved burdening, the fear of death. It is exactly this fear on which almost all evil machinations, also the religious ones, build their oppression of the human souls.

In the West, the doctrine of re-embodiment was revoked at the Second Council of Constantinople in 553 AD and branded as heresy.

For those readers who derive their theosophical interest from Blavatsky’s tradition, it should be said that D.K. worked together with Blavatsky on Her teaching (during the years when she was physically living in the Brotherhood). His later teaching, given together with A. Bailey, he considered as a continuation.
