29. Understanding of complete freedom is necessary for approaching Us. How terrible is the consequence of fear or seeking advantage! The undarkened aspiration, freed from all burdens, reveals the true path. Where such freedom begins, only the heart can judge, in which there is no cunning or bribery. But the limits of the heart’s freedom are narrow. What do people not pile up around this finest fabric! If the heart echoes at distant earthquakes, if our skin feels warmth emanating from a hand even at considerable distance, how much more strongly does the heart vibrate through human emanations! It is precisely this quality that is not sufficiently taken into account by present-day science.
