Urusvati (Helena Roerich) can name members of the Brotherhood, but she will not do so, as she will consider whether such disclosure would be appropriate. Seven names are already on everyone’s lips, but what good would that do? Actions are needed, not names. Therefore, when We touch upon aspects of the personal lives of the brothers, We will speak of deeds, but not of names. People do not argue about deeds, but mainly about names. The revelation of a name meant that Our brother was forced, during His earthly sojourn, to be buried at short notice, in order to preserve His freedom of action. We had to constantly change names so as not to arouse curiosity. We had to hide ourselves hastily so that the cause of good would not suffer. One of the first rules of the brotherhood is that the inner basis of an action must be valued above all else. There are two kinds of thinking. One thought arises from feeling, in other words from the heart, and the other from the vicinity of the mind. Self-sacrifice arises from the heart. The Brotherhood is founded on such thinking. Our cooperation also lives from the heart.

When we speak of unity, we assume that the heart is alive. The most repulsive phenomenon is feigned unity. Many imagined that they were already approaching the Brotherhood, but it was precisely through hypocrisy that they became renegades. Hypocrisy cannot enter Our community. It is impossible to participate in the Great Service in a hypocritical manner. People do not understand how one can accept reading each other’s thoughts, but for Us such a process is completely natural and serves only to simplify mutual relationships. Thus, thoughts often replace an entire exchange of words. Even in everyday life, people who have lived together for a long time understand the thoughts of their companions. But with certain exercises, one can understand the thoughts of one’s co-workers without any apparatus. We speak only of that which is confirmed among us and applied in action. May those who strive towards us understand the work that develops on the basis of heartfelt feelings.
